Went to Plantsbrook Nature Reserve today in Pype Hayes even though I'm suffering from man flu. Three lakes were completely iced over with a thin layer of ice but the main lake was only about a quarter iced over, leaving plenty of water for the birds that are there. Today's bird spots for the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch http://www.rspb.org.uk/birdwatch/ (the highest number of each bird species seen) were as follows :-
Buzzard 1,
Jay 1,
Long Tailed Tit 8,
Coal Tit 2,
