Shard End Lake.
A short visit to Shard End Lake to hopefully see some winter migrants (the feathered kind) but there was nothing, in fact not a lot of bird activity at all. Birds seen where Wren, Robin, Blue Tit, House Sparrow, Starling, Great Crested Grebe and Moorhen. To fatten up this post a little, here are a few facts about the fish in the lake and the adjacent River Cole. Fish in Shard End Lake are Roach up to 1lb, Perch up to 2lb, Bream and Tench up to 6lb, Carp and Pike running up to 30lb, fish in the River Cole are Roach, Perch and Chub up to 2lb, Carp and Trout up to 4lb. For any body who thinks there aren't any fish on the Birmingham stretch of River Cole, here's the proof, here and here.
