Pype Hayes Park.
Plantsbrook Nature Reserve.
A visit to Plantsbrook today was already planned but I just had to go and see the Mute Swans and five Cygnets that had relocated from Plantsbrook to Pype Hayes Park bringing the traffic along Eachelhurst Road by the Bagot Arms to a complete standstill http://www.birminghammail.net/news/top-stories/2011/05/31/birmingham-dual-carriageway-brought-to-a-standstill-by-swans-97319-28796201/ Birds spotted on the short visit to Pype Hayes were Great Spotted Woodpecker, Buzzard, Dunnock, Mute Swan, Cygnet (5) Gosling (14) and Duckling (2). Birds spotted at Plantsbrook were Kestrel, House Martin, Grey Wagtail, Chaffinch, Blue Tit, Robin, House Sparrow, Little Grebe, Moorhen, Grey Heron, Mute Swan, Gosling (3) Duckling (8) and Coot chick (15). The Goslings (in the first three Plantsbrook pictures) are from the Canada Goose that was on the footpath, so thankfully they hatched without too much trouble. Also all the Blue Tits have all gone from the nest in the hollow of the tree, so hopefully they all fledged successfully.
