A trip yesterday New Hall Valley Country Park in Sutton and to the New Hall Hotel grounds. Birds spotted at the country park were Blackcap, Whitethroat, Jay, Song Thrush, Wren, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Long Tailed Tit, Robin, House Martin, Swift, Buzzard, House Sparrow, Starling, also saw plenty of noisy Great Tit chicks being fed, also saw a few House Sparrow fledglings being fed. At the hotel on the very quiet and secluded fishing pool were two pairs of Canada Goose with five and four Goslings each, a Mallard with two Ducklings and a pair of Moorhens with two chicks, their was probably plenty more but you could only see so far and I didn't want to disturb the birds who were there. The hotel has a moat which is stocked full of fish, including the two foot long one in the last picture, there were also plenty of Grey Squirrels in the gardens taking advantage of the relative quiet and plenty of fir and pine cone trees. I've also seen the first House Sparrow fledglings in the garden, fortunately I have a large House Sparrow population living locally.
